He expressed joy over his signing and teased his desire to play in the English Premier League after making his name in the French Ligue 1 and German Bundesliga.

“I am incredibly happy to be joining Chelsea. A big effort was made to bring me to the club and I am looking forward to meeting my new coach and team-mates and showing the Chelsea supporters what I can do on the pitch”

“Having played in Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga, I now want to play in the Premier League, one of the strongest leagues in the world. I am very excited for this challenge and will be proud to wear the Chelsea shirt.” He said

Nkunku had 22 goal involvement last season in the Bundesliga after he made 25 appearances. He scored 16 and assisted 6 goals. He closed the curtain fi that campaign with the DFB Pokal trophy.

Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, Chelsea’s co-sporting directors, said: “Christopher has proved himself one of the standout attacking players in European football over the past two seasons and will add quality, creativity and versatility to our squad.

“He has demonstrated his ability at the highest level with RB Leipzig and France and we look forward to him joining up with his new teammates ahead of the new season.”

The 25-year-old has written his name in the German top-tier league, as he was adjudged the Bundesliga Player of the Season in the 2021–2022 season when he scored 20 goals and provided 15 assists.

He was poised to make his debut for the French men’s national team at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, but an injury incapacitated him.
