The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Samuel Nartey George, has made significant donations to the Prampram and Ningo Traditional Councils ahead of the 2024 Homowo festival.

On August 23, 2024, Sam George presented sacks of corn, palm oil, local drinks, and an undisclosed amount of money to both Councils in separate ceremonies held at their respective locations.

The donations were aimed at supporting the Councils preparations for the annual festival.

Speaking to the media, Sam George highlighted that the donations have been part of his annual efforts to help the communities celebrate the festival, which fosters unity among the people.

In a related event, the Dzata Foundation, led by Mrs. Vera George, the wife of the MP, handed over a newly renovated Prampram Traditional Council building. The structure had been in a deteriorated state after being vacated by the Prampram District Assembly, which relocated to a new facility provided by the government.

According to the Paramount Chief of Prampram, H.R.M. Nene Tetteh Walsh III, multiple attempts to have the District Assembly refurbish the building were unsuccessful. The Council then sought help from Sam George and the Dzata Foundation, who undertook the renovation. The improvements included new furniture, upgraded washrooms, air conditioners, and a fresh coat of paint.

Expressing his gratitude, H.R.M. Nene Tetteh Walsh III commended the MP and the Dzata Foundation for their invaluable support in restoring the Council building.

Speaking after the handover ceremony, Mrs. Vera George, CEO of the Dzata Foundation, shared her joy in seeing the completion of the project. She expressed confidence that the renovated building would greatly enhance the Council’s operations.

Mrs. George also announced that the Foundation is working on other development initiatives in the Ningo-Prampram Constituency, particularly in the education sector, to improve learning opportunities for children in the area.

The Member of Parliament also highlighted the importance of the Traditional Council in the development of the Community.

“They are the custodians of the land. I just have a four-year mandate but his mandate is till God calls him home. MP’s will and go but the chieftaincy Institution will remain, because Politics came to meet the Chieftaincy Institution and so the only way we can ensure that the Chief are respected is not by paying lip service, but by ensuring that even places where they can transact their business, places where the council can found, where the council can do it own work is more important because when the Traditional Council is working, it makes my work as a Member of Parliament very simple” Sam George Said.
