Nigerian Chef, Hilda Effiong popularly known as Hilda Bacci has broken the Guinness World Record for the “longest cooking marathon by an individual”.
Hilda Baci commenced the bid to break the Guinness World Record for longest cooking marathon by an individual on Thursday 4pm at Amore Gardens, Lekki in Lagos.
The former record holder, Chef Lata London, an Indian national in 2019 was bestowed the longest cooking marathon after 87 hours and 45 minutes of uninterrupted cooking which has been broken by Baci.
The Nigerian restauranter earlier this day, May 15 Monday morning, broke the 87-hour, 45 minutes record surpassing Lata Tondon to become the Guinness World Record holder for longest cooking by an individual.
She spurs on after breaking the record and seeks to set the pedestal higher to a 96 hours record stretching 8 hours 55 minutes further than the former record for uninterrupted cooking.
Her feat has received buzz on social media as celebrities, government officials and other prominent people have applauded her and wished her well.
Nigerians thronged her premise to demonstrate massive love as they stood outside cheering on the record breaker for her feat despite the heavy downpour in Lagos this morning.
Nigerian Rockstar Tiwa Savage also visited the Chef who had cooked for 4 days non-stop and congratulated her.
The State Govenor for Akwa Ibom state, Udom Emmanuel commended the Chef on Sunday evening for portraying attributes of the Dakkada Philosophy of the state.
“This is what our Dakkada philosophy is all about; the determination to dare and conquer what others thought to be impossible. We salute you for putting our culinary skills on full display and of course, our nationally and internationally celebrated cuisines.” the Govenor.
The chef won the maiden edition of the Jollof Face-off Competition in 2021, pocketing a grand prize of $5000
