I had to take this decision to make those who believe in me proud – Arda Güler on his transfer to Madrid

Real Madrid’s New signing, Arda Güler, has expressed his move to the Spanish side as a way of making those who believe in him more proud in a farewell message he posted on Twitter.

In a tweet, the Fenerbache star sent a farewell message to the fans of the team and remarked that his move, which was a difficult decision, will generate belief in the Turkish youth achieving great heights and also encourage anyone who is despondent.

“It’s hard to say goodbye, but I had to take this decision to make those who believe in me more proud, to give hope to everyone who is about to give up, and to prove that Turkish youth can achieve anything they want,” he wrote.

He thanked the team and shared his joy for the reception and growth from which he benefited at the Sükrü Saracoglu Stadium, where he had the best days of his life.

“It’s time to say goodbye to Fenerbahce, where I had the best days of my life. I will never forget the first time I wore the stick that I dreamed of, the pride of the number 10 jersey, the magnificent Fenerbahce fans, and the amazing support I encountered everywhere I set foot” he said.

In an official statement by Real Madrid, they confirmed the signing of the Fenebarche star on a six-year deal and stated that he will be unveiled tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. and will grant an interview to the media as well.

The Spanish Giants have been following Guler for a few weeks and agreed to pay more than his reported €17.5 million release clause to seal the move. He will join Madrid on a six-year deal for an initial €20m (£17m/$22m), with up to €10m in add-ons worked into the deal. Fenerbache reportedly has a 20% sell-on clause for the 18-year-old.

Los Blancos beat Barcelona, as well as other big European clubs like AC Milan, who were racing to sign the young talent.

Guler is the fourth Real Madrid summer signing, joining Jude Bellingham, Joselu, and Fran Garcia in this summer’s transfer window.Arda Güler, the young attacking midfielder, made 35 appearances, scoring six goals and assisting seven for the Turkish side Fenerbahçe SK in the 2022–2023 season. He also made four appearances for the Turkish National Team and netted a goal.

According to ESPN, Real Madrid have had their eyes on the star since the 2021–22 season, with Madrid’s chief scout Juni Calafat playing a key role in securing the deal.
