Southampton Relegated from the Premier League

Southampton lost their stay in the top flight English Premier League yesterday May 13, after finishing last on the league table.

The saints were relegated for the third time after 11 years of stay in the premier league after the 1973 -74 and 2004 – 2005 season. In this campaign they lost more league games this season (24) than in any previous campaign in their history.

They finished last on the table with 24 points out of 36 games played. Fulham who came strong from relegation gave Southampton the last blow to relegate them to the Championship after a 2-0 win over the saints.

Fulham close the curtains to the saints’ stay in the premier league with second-half goals from Carlos Vinicius’ and Aleksandar Mitrovic at St. Mary’s Stadium.

Harrison Reed’s slide challenge on Lycano diverted the ball with Vinicius tapping in the ball in the 48th minute.

The saints nearly came back 57 seconds later from a goal down when Carlos Alcarz’s goal was ruled offside.

The Serbian striker, Mitrovic after six minutes in the game as a second-hald substitute scored from Harry Wilson’s cross after an eight game ban.
