“Tragically we see that location, while it has spawned a great deal of pride in Los Angeles, it has also unfortunately served as a backdrop now for tragedies such as this. Our added patrols will continue at that location … to counter such reckless actions.”.

The Iconoinc bridge referred to as ‘Ribbon of light’ was inaugurated last year, July 2022. The infrastructure which is worth $588-million was built to replace an 84-year-old Art Deco span, runs 3,500 feet (1,066.80 meters).

It was designed to become a landmark in Los Angeles, and features thousands of LED lights on the wavy arches.

Following it s opening, the Police had to close the bridge several times after within a short soan, it became a venue for graffiti, street racing and illegal takeovers which attracted spectators to witness  the drivers do wild stunts.

The iconic bridge has also attracted content creators.in January,  a man died from gunwound after he was shot on the bridge when they were filming an unauthorised music video. One fellow also sat on a barber’s seat in the middle of the lanes for a hair cut .

The bridge was designed to become a city landmark which “will rival the Hollywood Sign and Griffith Park as iconic images of our city,” Council member Kevin de León said at its opening in July 2022.

The Sixth Street Viaduct, also known as the Sixth Street Bridge, is a viaduct bridge that connects the Arts District in Downtown Los Angeles with the Boyle Heights neighborhood.
