Ghana’s Black Stars have retained their position in the latest FIFA Men’s World Rankings, holding steady at 72nd globally and 14th in Africa.

The ranking for the West African nation remains unchanged from the end of 2025, as per the update released on Monday.

Morocco, hosts of the recent Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), achieved a significant climb despite their loss to Senegal in the final, rising three places to eighth—their highest-ever ranking. This marks the first time the Atlas Lions have entered the top 10 since April 1998, displacing Belgium, Croatia, and Germany by one spot each.

AFCON winners Senegal also saw a substantial improvement, surging seven places to 12th—a new record for the Lions of Teranga after their continental victory.

Spain continues to lead the global standings, with Argentina, France, and England maintaining their positions in the top four.

The top 20 African teams in the latest FIFA rankings are as follows:

– Morocco – 8
– Senegal – 12
– Nigeria – 26
– Algeria – 28
– Egypt – 31
– Ivory Coast – 37
– Cameroon – 45
– Tunisia – 47
– DR Congo – 48
– Mali – 54
– South Africa – 60
– Burkina Faso – 62
– Cape Verde – 67
– Ghana – 72
– Guinea – 80
– Gabon – 86
– Uganda – 88
– Angola – 89
– Zambia – 91
– Benin – 92

The Black Stars are set to reconvene in March for an international friendly match against Germany in Stuttgart, as part of their build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
