Bryan Acheampong opens up about ‘unseen’ frowns and tension at NPP’s peace pact signing

New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant and Member of Parliament for Abetifi, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, has revealed that his seating arrangement at the party’s Peace Pact Ceremony on Thursday acted as a “divine intervention” to avert a potential public clash among the contenders.

Speaking to party delegates from Manso Nkwakaw and Manso Adudia during his second campaign tour in the Ashanti Region on Friday, Dr. Acheampong described the evident tensions through the body language of former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, which he said could have disrupted the January 22 event in Accra.

As he campaigns ahead of the January 31 primaries, the Abetifi MP according to an Citinewsroom report, emphasized that his position served as a crucial buffer during the ceremony.

“I believe that it was God’s intervention that made me sit on the second chair, which was in between number one and number three. If I had not held on to the person sitting on chair number one, what would have happened there would have been nothing to write home about,” he stated.

He pointed out that while viewers at home witnessed a composed ceremony on television, the underlying discord was unmistakable.

“I hope you all saw it on TV. I urged them to smile. It demonstrates that there are problems in the party. When Number One managed to smile a little, Number Three also started frowning,” he elaborated.

Dr. Acheampong acknowledged the ongoing internal dissatisfaction and unresolved issues within the NPP, positioning his actions at the event as a demonstration of his leadership approach.

He stressed the need for a leader capable of handling strong personalities and reinstating order in preparation for the general elections.

“When I win this election, we will restore discipline in the party,” he assured the delegates.

With the primaries approaching their final week, Dr. Acheampong encouraged the Antoakrom delegates to consider his track record of promoting stability and strategic foresight, urging them to support him in leading the party to success and revitalizing internal unity.
