Let’s forgive each other from the bottom of our hearts – Bawumia preaches to NPP members

The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has appealed to party members to forgive one another and close ranks following the intense exchanges that characterised the recent election campaign.

Speaking at the National Thanksgiving Service organised by the NPP at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) on Sunday, February 15, 2026, Dr Bawumia urged members to let go of any bitterness or hurt stemming from the campaign period.

“On this day as we celebrate and give thanks together, I want to ask all of us, from the bottom of my heart, that we forgive each other for some of the unpalatable things we may have said during the campaign,” he said.

The NPP Flagbearer stressed that unity and reconciliation are essential as the party begins the process of reorganising and preparing for future political battles.

“I have been encouraged by the efforts many of you have made to reach out to your brothers and sisters after the elections. Though I know the exercise of healing is not yet completed, I believe we have started well, and I commend all patriots for the steps taken so far,” he added.

Dr Bawumia’s remarks come at a time when the NPP is reflecting on its performance in the recently concluded general elections and seeking to mend internal divisions that emerged during the keenly contested flagbearership and parliamentary primaries, as well as the national campaign.

The thanksgiving service, attended by senior party officials, constituency executives, and supporters, provided a platform for reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment to the party’s long-term goals.

Dr Bawumia who was the party’s flagbearer in the 2024 presidential elections, emerged victorious in the NPP’s January 31 presidential primaries beating four other candidates including Kennedy Agyapong, Bryan Acheampong, Yaw Osei Adutwum and Kwabena Agyepong.
