Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has underscored the power of grassroots communication, declaring that he will rely on the Twi language to connect with party supporters and mobilise voters if elected National Chairman.
Speaking to supporters during his campaign tour in Accra on Sunday, March 29, 2026, Wontumi emphasised that effective engagement at the community level, especially through local languages, is essential for strengthening the NPP’s bond with the electorate ahead of the 2028 general elections.
“I have worked as a constituency chairman, constituency executive, and now I am a regional chairman. I know what they need and what they want,” he told the gathering.
“If you elect me as the national chairman, I am going to use Twi to get this job done. The grassroots are going to respond, and we will win the election in 2028,” he added.
The outspoken regional chairman has been touring various regions, including Greater Accra, as part of his bid to become the NPP’s National Chairman.
He has consistently positioned himself as a hands-on leader with deep roots in constituency and regional politics, capable of uniting the party and delivering victory in the next general election.
His campaign has focused on unity, grassroots mobilisation, and practical leadership drawn from his experience in the Ashanti Region, where the NPP has historically recorded strong electoral performances.
The NPP following its successful flagbearer election in January, is set to elect new party leaders from the local level to the level.
