Roads Minister orders termination of Black Oak’s Bogoso-Prestea contract over ‘no show’

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has directed the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Highways Authority (GHA), Mallam Issah Ishak, to immediately commence the process of terminating the contract awarded to Black Oak for the construction of the Bogoso–Prestea Road.

The contract was awarded to Black Oak in 2025, but the contractor only mobilised to the site in March 2026. After clearing the verges of the road, the company allegedly abandoned the project, citing the absence of the road design.

According to the Regional Highways Engineer, physical progress on the project stands at less than two percent.

The Minister issued the directive during an inspection tour of Big Push projects in the Western Region. Although the Bogoso–Prestea Road is not part of the Big Push initiative, Mr Agbodza stressed that it remains a priority project for the government and vowed not to tolerate unnecessary delays by the contractor.

He emphasised the government’s commitment to ensuring timely completion of critical road infrastructure projects across the country.
