The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has been charged with offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace and publication of false news over alleged derogatory remarks made against a judge.

Kwame Baffoe appeared before the Accra Circuit Court 9 and was subsequently remanded into custody by the court. According to reports, the court ordered Abronye’s remand until the determination of his trial.

According to the charge sheet, the 44-year-old farmer from Abronye faces two counts under the Criminal Code 1960 (Act 29).

Count One charges him with offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace, contrary to Section 207(1) of the Criminal Code. The particulars of the offence allege that in April 2026, at Accra, within the jurisdiction of the court, without lawful authority, he uttered abusive words to the effect that: “You are not a Judge but rather a politician and you have covered your hair with a sack and claim you are a Judge,” which was likely to occasion a breach of the peace.

Count Two accuses him of publication of false news, contrary to Section 208(1) of the Criminal Code. The charge states that in a video circulating on social media in April 2026, Kwame Baffoe @Abronye made similar statements, knowing them to be false, and that the publication was likely to cause fear, panic and disturb the public peace.
