Fifty aspirants have picked nomination forms to contest 11 national executive positions in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) upcoming national executive elections, with five seeking to become National Chairman.

The five aspirants are former National Chairman Paul Afoko, former General Secretary John Boadu, former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko, former First Vice Chairman Sammy Crabbe and Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

The incumbent National Chairman, Stephen Ayesu Ntim, is not seeking re-election.

The General Secretary position has attracted four aspirants, including incumbent Justin Kodua Frimpong, who is seeking a second term. He faces competition from Eugene Boakye Antwi, Sylvester Tetteh and Charles Dwamena.

The National Organiser position has attracted eight aspirants: Glover Daniel Nii Kwartei, Salam Mustapha, Kwame Prempeh, Archibald Korletey Gamor, Emmanuel Korsi Bodja, Nana Kwadjo Agyei Yeboah, Daniel Agyenim Boateng and Ali Maiga Halidu.

Six aspirants have also picked forms to contest the National Youth Organiser position. They are Clement Opoku Gyamfi, Chris Lloyd Nii Kwei Asamoah, Michael Osei Boateng, Vera Oye Bram-Larbi, Kumi Alfred Ababio and Abanga Fuseini Yakubu.

The National Women Organiser position has three contenders: Mavis Hawa Koomson, Perpetual Ekua Lomokie Akwada and Safia Mohammed.

Dennis Miracles Aboagye and Evans Kodo are contesting the National Communications Director position. Gordon Asare Bediako, who had expressed interest in the position, withdrew from the race on Saturday and endorsed Mr Aboagye.

The National Vice Chairperson position has attracted the highest number of aspirants, with 13 people picking forms. They are Henry Nana Boakye, Kojo Fosu Boadu, Mustapha Abdul Hameed, Samuel Pyne, Richard Ahiagba, Abena Pokua Boaitey Amoah, Alhaji Masawudu Osman, Yaa Amponsah Frimpong, George Kwabena Abankwah Yeboah, Horma Miez, Richard Oti Aboagye, Bright Esselfie Kumi and Nana Akomea.

Four aspirants have picked forms for the National Treasurer position: Alfred Kojo Thompson, Collins Nuntwiri Nuamah, Tahiru Issahaku Moomin and Ahmed Ruka Saida.

The National Nasara Organiser position has attracted five aspirants: Issaka Muazo Kunata, Salim Bamba, Razak Tahiru Maiga, Awal Mohammed and Mohammed Ali Suraj.

The NPP National Officers Elections Committee has, however, cautioned that picking or collecting a nomination form does not automatically constitute a valid nomination or candidature.

According to the committee, an aspirant will become a nominee only after properly filing the completed nomination form and accompanying documents within the prescribed period, subject to vetting and other processes under the party’s constitution and election regulations.

Filing of completed nomination forms began on Sunday, August 23, and will close on Saturday, August 29, 2026.

The aspirants will subsequently undergo vetting from Monday, August 31, to Thursday, September 3, 2026.

The committee said the date for the elections had not yet been fixed, explaining that the balloting date would be determined after the filing, vetting and possible appeals processes had been completed.
