Ghanaian-owned Planet Condoms launches in Ghana with focus on pleasure, protection

Ghanaian-owned condom brand, Planet Condoms, has been officially launched with a focus on combining sexual pleasure with protection, sexual health awareness and HIV prevention.

The brand was launched on Friday, August 28, 2026, at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, with its Chief Executive Officer, Naiden Ewuradjoa Kutubebi, describing the occasion as the beginning of a broader commitment to quality, innovation and the health and wellbeing of consumers.

“Today, as we launch Planet Condoms, we are therefore launching more than a product. We are launching a promise; a promise to pursue quality, a promise to promote sexual health, a promise to support HIV prevention, a promise to innovate and a promise to contribute meaningfully to the health and wellbeing of our communities,” she said.

Beyond its protective role, Planet Condoms is being positioned as a brand that recognises pleasure as an important part of the sexual experience, seeking to make safer sex not only a health-conscious choice but also an enjoyable one.

The company is also targeting young people with sexual health messaging as it seeks to establish the brand in Ghana and eventually expand awareness beyond the country.

Kutubebi said the company was committed to reaching young people with messages encouraging them to make responsible decisions about their sexual health.

“We are practically committed to reaching young people with the right message: protect yourself, protect your partner, know your status, make responsible choices,” she said.

She expressed appreciation to the Ghana AIDS Commission for its support and underscored the importance of sustained efforts to promote sexual health awareness and HIV prevention.

The Planet Condoms CEO also used the occasion to address the stigma associated with HIV, stressing that people living with the virus should not be subjected to rejection or discrimination.

“We also want to emphasise that living with HIV should not be a reason for rejection or discrimination. People living with HIV deserve dignity, respect, treatment and support,” she said.

The launch therefore brings together three key elements of the brand’s positioning: pleasure, protection and sexual health, with Planet Condoms seeking to appeal to consumers while also contributing to broader public health conversations.

By combining the enjoyment associated with intimacy with messages around protection, responsible choices and HIV prevention, the Ghanaian-owned brand aims to establish itself as more than a conventional condom product and build a distinctive identity in the sexual wellness market.
