Teshie murder: Suspect allegedly sold deceased’s iPhone 12 for GH¢100 after killing – Police
The Ghana Police Service has recovered the iPhone 12 belonging to murdered Circle phone dealer Nana Yaw Kyere, after it was allegedly sold for ¢100 by one of the suspects arrested in connection with his death.
According to the police, suspect Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe allegedly sold Nana Yaw’s iPhone 12 to a man identified as Sunday Omeje for GH¢100.
The Police said Mr Omeje has since been cautioned and detained for allegedly dishonestly receiving the phone.
The recovery of the phone forms part of ongoing investigations into the kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old Nana Yaw, popularly known as Terry or Dinero.
Nana Yaw was reported missing on September 22, 2026, after leaving his residence at Kokomlemle in Accra on September 19 in his Honda Civic vehicle.
The police said investigations by the Missing Persons Unit established that he had been lured to Philip Tefe’s residence at Teshie Agbleza by another suspect, Sarah Osei Adams.
The police said the two suspects later confessed to their involvement in the incident.
According to the preliminary findings, Philip Tefe attacked Nana Yaw during a confrontation and hit him with a metallic object, causing him to sustain injuries.
The victim was subsequently moved to another room, where he was allegedly left unattended and later died.
Investigators further established that Nana Yaw’s body was transported in a Kia Morning vehicle to a location near the motorway on September 20.
The body was allegedly dumped in a bush and set ablaze before it was discovered at Community 18 on September 21.
His biological mother and an uncle later identified the body at the Police Hospital morgue on September 24.
The police have also arrested Josiah Obodai in connection with the alleged disposal of the body. His father’s Kia Morning vehicle, which investigators believe was used to transport the body, has been impounded.
The Police said Philip Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams and Josiah Obodai remain in custody and will be put before the court as investigations continue.
Investigators are also working to identify and arrest other persons who may have been involved in the case.
Nana Yaw, a phone dealer associated with the Kwame Nkrumah Circle trading community, had earlier been reported missing after travelling to Teshie for a business transaction. Reports at the time said his family and colleagues became concerned after they were unable to reach him.
The Police statement dated September 28, 2026, is the first official confirmation of the circumstances surrounding his death and the recovery of his phone.
