England international, Jude Bellingham has been named the Player of the Season in the German Bundesliga 2022-2023 season following his spectacular performance.
The chapter of the Die Schwarzgelben Midfielder’s journey closed in their final match against Mainz which did not turn out as they expected.
In a 2-2 draw against Mainz at the Signal Iduna Park, Dortmund could not grab the Meisterchale after their rival, Bayern Munich defeated FC Koln at RheinEnergieStadion to lift the Bundesliga trophy for 11 seasons running.
The 19-year-old Englishman was named the club’s third captain behind legends Marco Reus and Mats Hummels which proves his competence. However, he could not feature in the final match which made their dream trophy fall through their hands.
“From the very first matchday in August, he has shown the full extent of his ability. His athleticism has made him one of the most physically imposing players in the division – not only does he feature in the division’s top 10 for sprints (861) and intensive runs (2473), but he has covered more distance (322 km) than any of his teammates, while the 482 duels he has won are a league-high.”
“It is in the final third, though, where Bellingham has progressed the most. Only 10 players registered more shots than his 65, with those efforts leading to eight goals – that is more than double his highest previous league tally, and three more than he managed in the top flight last season.” Bundesliga stated on their site.
Jude Bellingham donated gifts yesterday to the fans of the “yellow and black” as he head towards Spanish side Real Madrid.
