UniMAC-IJ SRC’s Endowment Fund: GHc 16,300 Supports 13 Students, GHc 13,700 Remains for Future Assistance

The office of the Financial Secretary and the Endowment fund Board of the Students Representative Council, UniMAC- IJ, formerly GIJ, has announced the disbursement of an amount of GHc 16,300, representing its first tranche of the Student Aid Facility which has covered the academic facility user fee of 13 students.

In a statement signed by Mercy Adomaa Sarpong, Financial Secretary, UniMAC-IJ, and Yvonne Neequaye, Chairperson of the Endowment Fund Board, the total amount of GHc 30,000 was allocated for the two semesters of which the amount of GHc 16,300 was disbursed to pay for fees of 13 students for the first semester of the 2023/2024 academic year whereas the remaining amount of GHc13,700 will be disbursed in the next semester to cater for same which the SRC deems important in supporting students who may face financial hurdles in their academic pursuit.

“Following this allocation, GHc13,700 remains available for the use of the second semester. We understand the importance of this fund in supporting students who may face financial hardships in pursuing their academic endeavors” the statement read.

The statement further urged students to apply for assistance from the Students Aid Facility when the window of opportunity is opened, underscoring the representative body’s priority of ensuring students have a successful academic journey void of financial hurdles.

“The Student Representative Council (SRC) prioritizes your welfare and hereby encourages you to apply for assistance from the Endowment Fund when the next opportunity arises. We genuinely understand the importance of this fund in aiding students who are confronted with severe financial challenges in pursuing their academic aspiration” it stated

The Endowment fund, a subsidiary of the Student Aid Facility is a financial intervention scheme set up by the Students Representative Council of the University of Media, Arts, and Communication under the leadership of Fatimatu Ali, SRC President, to cater to the financial needs of students who encounter challenges in fulfilling financial requirements in their academic pursuits.
