Skytrain Case: Supreme Court dismisses Solomon Asamoah’s application to halt trial

The Supreme Court has dismissed an application by former Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF) Chief Executive Officer Solomon Asamoah seeking to overturn a High Court ruling dismissing his submission of no case to answer and to prevent the trial judge from continuing with the case.

The application, filed by the first accused in the case, Republic v Solomon Asamoah & Another, sought an order of certiorari to quash the High Court’s ruling of July 2, 2026, which dismissed his submission of no case and directed him to open his defence if he wished to do so.

He also sought an order of prohibition to restrain the trial judge from proceeding with the trial.

The Supreme Court’s decision clears the way for the proceedings in the Skytrain case to continue.

A case management conference for the defence has consequently been scheduled for Monday, October 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., in accordance with the date fixed the previous week.
