Public Affairs Subdivision of Parliament holds four-day workshop for staff

The Public Affairs Subdivision of Parliament has organized a dynamic four-day workshop and conference at the AH Hotel in Accra from Tuesday, April 30th to May 3rd, 2024 aimed at enhancing the skills of staff from the Audiovisual and Interpretation Unit of the Subdivision.

The event marked a significant step towards elevating the quality of services provided to the Ghanaian populace through Parliament’s daily broadcasts of proceedings.

The workshop focused on equipping participants with the latest trends in their respective fields, ensuring the delivery of high-quality content to viewers.

Dr. Joshua Baafa, from the Department of Management and Public Administration at Accra Technical University, led sessions on Organisational Behaviour, emphasizing the importance of work ethics.

Renowned Ghanaian Professor, Prof. Audrey Gadzekpo, an expert in Communication, enlightened participants on Ethical Standards in Communication, aligning with Parliament’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

Mr. Yao Apaloo, a specialist in cinematography, shared insights into current trends and the art of editing, emphasizing effective post-production techniques for both video and audio content.

Dr. Marco Stanley Nyarko from KNUST focused on Sign Language interpretation and the ergonomics of Sign Interpreters, ensuring inclusivity in Parliament’s broadcasts.

Delivering the closing remarks at the event, Madam Kate Addo, Coordinating Director of the Public Affairs Subdivision of Parliament expressed gratitude to all the resource persons for their invaluable contributions and commended the participants for their dedication. She encouraged them to continue striving for excellence in service to Ghana’s democracy.

Reflecting on the workshop, one participant shared, “It has been a good workshop. The facilitators covered the topics comprehensively, and I have gained valuable insights, especially regarding ethical behavior and upholding standards in the workplace.”

The workshop’s success underscores Parliament’s commitment to enhancing its services and furthering its role in promoting democracy and transparency in Ghana.
