The Ghana Publishing Company has launched the E-Gazette, a digital platform that allows applicants to conveniently access and apply for gazette services online.
The launch marks a significant milestone in the company’s ongoing efforts to digitize its operations, which have traditionally relied on manual, paper-based publications since its establishment in the 1965.
Speaking at a press briefing to officially introduce the platform, the Managing Director of the Company, Mr. Nana Kwasi Boatey, said the E-Gazette leverages digital innovation to enhance accessibility for all Ghanaians, a duty they owe as public servants.
“We are leveraging on this digital transformation to make sure that Ghanaians living everywhere can now apply for gazette. We will continue to leverage on innovations like this to make the service more accessible to Ghanaians. We owe it a duty to you” he said
According to Mr. Boatey, the idea for the E-Gazette was inspired by public concerns about the difficulty of accessing their services without visiting the company’s offices in person.
He explained that these concerns were gathered during the company’s flagship education campaign, ‘Gazette 360,’ where officials engaged the media and the public to create awareness about their services.
“On that campaign tour one question kept coming up. Do I have to necessarily come to the Ghana Publishing Company premises to get one? It became clear that that service was not enough that we needed to give Ghanaians a lot more room when it comes to this gazette application.” he said
Mr. Boatey also revealed that although an e-gazette platform was reportedly launched in December 2024, no trace of that system could be found upon his assumption of office.
Consequently, the company partnered with an Indian technology firm, to develop a new and functional digital platform.
“May I add that the records show that when I came in December, E-gazette was launched. Unfortunately, when we came, there was no traces of the E-gazette that was launched. So, we had to go through the process all anew to create this platform”
“So, we have gone through the mill, engaged very competent I.T people. A company has been very generous to us, and they put together a platform for us where you now can apply for gazette with your mobile phone or anywhere you sit by the computer ” he explained.
He described the new platform as user-friendly, accessible, and available 24/7, aligning with the government’s flagship 24-hour economy initiative.
The Managing Director also announced the introduction of a 24-hour gazette service, which enables applicants to receive their gazettes within a day, compared to the previous standard processing period of three weeks.
He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to serving Ghanaians both locally and in the diaspora, ensuring that everyone, regardless of location, can access gazette services without barriers.
How to Apply for a Gazette Online
Step 1: Visit the E-Gazette portal and select the service you wish to apply for. Options include:
Personal identity update
Place of worship and marriage license registration
Business incorporation and commencement notice
Appointment of marriage officers
Corporate name change
Step 2: Create an account.
Step 3: Sign in and choose a plan — Regular, Premium, or Premium Plus.
Step 4: Fill out the application form and upload the required documents.
Step 5: Verify all uploaded files, make payment, and select your preferred delivery mode.
Step 6: Review all details carefully before submitting your application.
