B.You by Berla Mundi sensitizes 30 young women on cervical cancer

Media Personality and Founder of B.You, Berla Mundi organised the 2nd edition of B. You Love series in Accra to sensitize 30 young women about Cervical cancer and entrepreneurship.

The mini-conference brought together skilled professionals including Dr. Vanessa Apea, Consultant in genito-urinary medicine, and Victorine Sarr, a seasoned professional and founder of Lyvv Cosmetics, to share some insights on women’s health and career needs.

With an initial plan to focus on career mentorship and guidance, Berla Mundi revealed her team’s intention to add on to and diversify the project, to include women’s health (cancer) and entrepreneurship.

She further emphasized that the mini-conference was a platform to pave way for major conferences by creating a platform for females to have more intimate conversations about their aspirations, adding that her vision was to expand the B.You brand.

“This is supposed to be a mini-conference before the main conference and this is supposed to give us the opportunity to have a proper conversation with just a few girls to find out what their aspirations are and to bring professionals to speak to them about their health… the first time we had this was about two years ago” she said.

She expressed hope that the conference would impact the lives of as many women by addressing the barriers that hinder their potential and raise conscious women who care about their health, as well as confident women capable of instigating change.

“ it is right for women to know about cervical cancer and protect themselves from it. I have professionals who will speak on from the career world into entrepreneurship” she added.

With regards to challenges faced by the foundation, she pointed out that her major worry was funding.

According to her, well-meaning organizations who supported the foundation either provided products or services but not funds.

“ The brand is well positioned.. the brand aligns with them but when it comes to releasing the funds, they will rather release products or provide services but not necessarily release funds so that is my biggest challenge… I have been doing this for the last 5 years and that must stop…. Self-funding must stop, I need support” she appealed.

She urged corporate bodies and philanthropic organizations to invest in her brand to enable her to continue to impact the lives of as many young people as possible on health issues, career choices, and entrepreneurship.
