New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has called for unity among members of the party following the conclusion of its National Delegates Conference in Kumasi.

Speaking after the election of new national executives, Dr Bawumia said the completion of the conference marked the culmination of the party’s restructuring process, which began at the polling station level.

He congratulated the newly elected executives, led by National Chairman John Boadu, and urged all contestants, including those who lost their respective races, to remain actively involved in the party’s campaign ahead of the 2028 general election.

According to him, the outcome of the internal elections should be viewed as a victory for the NPP rather than for individual candidates.

“For those who did not win, I must let you know that it is not about winning. Who won? It is the NPP who won this election. You did not lose, the NPP won,” he said.

Dr Bawumia said the party would need the contribution of every member to prepare for the 2028 election, stressing that there was enough work for everyone.

He urged members to immediately put the internal contests behind them and work together towards the party’s next electoral campaign.

“Tonight, elections are over, all the camps will dissolve, and let us have one NPP to go and win 2028,” he said.

Dr Bawumia acknowledged that the 2028 election would require significant effort from the party and called on members to work harder than they did during the NPP’s 2016 campaign.

“We will have to work hard. Hard and hard. We will work harder than we did in 2016,” he said.

He further urged the new leadership and party members to begin strategising immediately, saying there was no time to waste in preparing for the 2028 contest.

The NPP completed its nationwide internal reorganisation with the election of new national executives at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

Dr Bawumia said unity would be central to the party’s preparations, urging members to come together and work towards the common objective of the 2028 election.
