Jenifa’s Diary Star Jumoke Aderounmu Passes on

Nigerian Actress Jumoke Aderounmu best known for her role in Funke Akindele’s Jenifa’s Diary TV series as Esther has reportedly passed on.

The news of her demise came as a shock to the Nigerian movie industry and the whole African theatre community as an avalanche of condolences have been sent across social media platforms.

According to reports, her death was confirmed by her brother Adeola Aderounmu on his Instagram story on Sunday.

He further revealed that the actress’ demise occurred on Saturday, April 6th however, the news was not released to the public domain. The cause of her death remains disclosed to the public.

In his Instagram post, the actress will be buried at the Owu Baptist Church Totoro Abeokuta at 8:00 am as stated on a flyer.

A fellow filmmaker Seun Oloketuyi, confirmed the news in a post on Instagram, Monday, 8th April, 2024. He posted a flyer of her burial arrangements and claimed the actress will be buried today.

The likes of Funke Akindele, the main character of Jenifa’s diary, and Jide Awobona have all expressed their sorrow and condolences on social media.

Aderounmu gained her entry into stardom in the Nigerian movie industry as “Yejide” in Tunde Kelani’s 2014 Movie Dazzling Mirage,

She played the leading lady as Jummy Adams in the 2013 Cinema Box Office Hit Movie by Toyin Abraham Alakada 2.

Jenifa’s diary creamed her career in 2016 when she played the role as Esther in the pupular TV series

Her career wasn’t confined to acting the script as she worked as a TV presenter in 2010/2011 on Goldmyne Entertainment Box Office and Concert Radio from 2012 to 2015.

A collection of movies she featured in include ’la femme Anjola’’ (2021), ’’Gone’’ (2021),Industreet (2017), The Ex (2015), Jenifa’s Diary (2016), Alakada 2 (2013), Wings of My Dreams (2013), Dazzling Mirage (2014), Unwritten 1&2 (2009), Patriots TV series (2008) and Arugba (2008).
