Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Special Aide to President John Dramani Mahama, has asked digital content creators to be cautious of spreading misinformation and disinformation, emphasising the long-term damage such content can cause.
Speaking at the maiden Digital Media Creators Networking and Capacity Building Conference organised by The1957News, on Thursday, April 30, 2026, the Presidential Adviser noted that once false information is published online, it becomes difficult to retract and can mislead the public.
“Disinformation, misinformation are both just as bad… If it is not true, if it is not sincere, it’s not factual, don’t put it out. And if you’re in doubt, cross-check,” she cautioned.
Joyce Bawah Mogtari further advised creators to verify their facts thoroughly and consult relevant institutions or legal experts when in doubt.
She observed that many official events now provide accreditation and designated spaces for media personnel, urging creators to operate within professional boundaries.
The conference focused on strengthening capacity and promoting ethical practices among digital creators in response to the rapid evolution of Ghana’s digital media industry.
