No vacancy notice for National Service postings due to limited capacity – Parliament clarifies reposting directive
Parliament has clarified that a notice directing prospective National Service personnel to seek reposting was issued because of limited capacity to accommodate all applicants, rather than a decision to freeze national service placements.
The clarification follows public commentary on social media regarding a notice displayed on Parliament’s notice board which read: “No Vacancy for National Service Personnel 2026/2027. Kindly go for reposting.”
In a statement signed by the Director of Media Relations, David Sebastian Damoah, Parliament said the notice had been misconstrued as a policy statement or an indication that it had suspended its participation in the National Service Scheme.
Parliament explained that the notice was a routine administrative message directed at prospective personnel who had reported to the institution.
According to Parliament, it had received more National Service personnel than it could accommodate for the 2026/2027 service year, necessitating the directive for some applicants to seek reposting to other institutions.
“Parliament remains committed to the National Service Scheme and values the contribution of service personnel to its work,” the statement said.
The Parliamentary Service further expressed regret over any confusion or inconvenience caused by the wording of the notice.
It stressed that the notice should not be interpreted as a change in its support for the National Service Scheme or as a general freeze on national service placements.
