Renowned football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that negotiations between Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey and Arsenal have reached a stalemate, suggesting the player may be on his way out of the Emirates.
In a post on X, Romano stated categorically that there is a “concrete chance” for Partey to leave Arsenal after a five-year stint at the club.
“Negotiations between Arsenal and Thomas Partey over new deal are not advancing. No agreement so far and now concrete chances to part ways in the upcoming days. Thomas would be available as free agent.” He wrote
Partey, who joined the Gunners in the 2020/2021 season at a fee of €50 million, is set to become a free agent this summer and could sign with any club of his choice.
In an exclusive interview with Ghanaian media outlet 3Sports, Partey indicated that his next move will be guided by a balance between ambition, family, and security.
During his previous campaign at Arsenal, Partey made 52 appearances, scored 4 goals, and provided 2 assists. The only trophy he clinched with the Gunners in his five years stint is the Community Shield which came in the 2023/2024 season.
Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had emphasized that Partey remains an important part of his plans, praising the midfielder’s consistency throughout the season. Earlier reports had suggested he could be offered a short-term extension.
