Passenger dies soon after arriving at Kotoka International Airport, management confirms

GAC confirms the death of a passenger at Kotoka International Airport shortly after arrival.

The Ghana Airport Company’s (GAC) management has confirmed the tragic news of a passenger who died shortly after arriving at the Kotoka International Airport.

According to a press release obtained by this portal on Saturday, June 18, the said passenger, whose name has been withheld, is a middle-aged man who was on a flight from Dulles International Airport in Washington.

Their report further stated that the late passenger arrived at Kotoka International Airport around 10:20 a.m. on Friday, June 17, 2022, and began sobbing about exhaustion and difficulty with breathing.

In furtherance, the press release stated that he became unconscious after being offered a wheelchair in the arrival hall to relieve stress and was taken to the airport clinic for medical attention, but he died soon after.

As required by airport protocol, the Ghana police service at the airport was notified of his death.

Ghana Airport Company Limited has launched an investigation into the incident.

GAC again expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
