The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has announced an increase in electricity and water tariffs, effective July 1, 2026.

Under the new rates, electricity tariffs will go up by 3.49%, while water tariffs will increase by 0.85%.

In a statement issued on Monday, June 24, the Commission said the adjustments form part of its quarterly tariff review mechanism aimed at maintaining the financial viability of utility service providers while minimising the impact on consumers.

According to the PURC, the review considered factors including the exchange rate between the Ghana cedi and the US dollar, inflation, the electricity generation mix, and the cost of fuel, particularly natural gas.

The Commission noted that the tariff adjustments are intended to ensure the continued provision of reliable utility services and support the operational sustainability of utility companies.

The new tariffs are expected to take effect from July 1, 2026.
