Former Member of Parliament for Assin Central and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong, has taken a sharp jab at Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, suggesting that he lacks the ability to translate ideas into tangible results.
His comments come in response to Dr. Bawumia’s recent statement during a meeting with over 200 MMDCEs, where he said: “I may not be rich, but I have rich ideas. Poor people can also be Presidents of Ghana.”
In what appears to be a direct rebuttal, Kennedy Agyapong posted on X (formerly Twitter) just hours later, writing:
“In this world, some have rich ideas and nothing to show for it. Others turn ideas into results and wealth. Ghana needs more doers, not dreamers in suits giving speeches. #DoersOverTalkers”
Agyapong’s remark implies that while Dr. Bawumia may position himself as a visionary with ideas, he has yet to demonstrate practical outcomes or measurable success, qualities he believes are essential for Ghana’s next leader.
The exchange highlights growing tension within the NPP as the race for the party’s 2028 presidential ticket subtly begins to take shape. Agyapong, who has long styled himself as a results-driven entrepreneur and patriot, appears to be drawing a clear contrast between action and rhetoric, positioning himself as a “doer” in contrast to what he perceives as Bawumia’s “dreamer” persona.
