Teshie murder: Police arrest three suspects over killing of Circle phone dealer Nana Yaw Kyere

The Ghana Police Service has arrested three suspects in connection with the alleged kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old phone dealer Nana Yaw Kyere, popularly known as Terry or Dinero.

The suspects have been identified as Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams and Josiah Obodai.

According to the Police, the arrests followed investigations by its Missing Persons Unit after Nana Yaw was reported missing on September 22, 2026.

A police statement dated Monday, September 28, 2026, said preliminary investigations established that Nana Yaw left his residence at Kokomlemle in Accra on September 19 in his Honda Civic vehicle but did not return.

Investigators subsequently established that he had been lured to the residence of suspect Philip Tefe at Teshie Agbleza by Sarah Osei Adams.

The Police said both suspects later confessed to their involvement in the incident.

According to the Police, Philip Tefe attacked Nana Yaw during a confrontation and hit him with a metallic object, causing him to sustain injuries.

The victim was subsequently moved to another room, where he was allegedly left unattended and later died.

The Police further said investigations established that Nana Yaw’s body was conveyed in a Kia Morning vehicle to a location near the motorway on September 20, where it was dumped in a bush and set ablaze.

His partially burnt body was discovered at Community 18 on September 21.

The victim’s biological mother and an uncle later identified the body at the Police Hospital morgue on September 24.

As part of investigations, the Police also arrested Josiah Obodai, who is being investigated in connection with the disposal of the body.

His father’s Kia Morning vehicle, which the Police believe was used to transport the body, has also been impounded.

The three suspects are currently in Police custody and are expected to be put before the court as investigations continue.

The Police said efforts are also underway to identify and arrest other persons who may have been involved in the incident.

Nana Yaw’s disappearance and subsequent death had earlier attracted attention after reports emerged that he had travelled to Teshie for a business transaction and failed to return home.

Earlier reports indicated that unusual WhatsApp messages had been sent from his phone during the period of his disappearance, with the messages reportedly claiming that he had been “set up” by a woman. His Honda Civic was subsequently recovered.

The latest Police statement, however, provides the first detailed official account of the circumstances leading to his death and the arrests.
