Ukranian Boxer killed in Russian war

Ukraninan Boxing Champion, has been killed in in the Russian war yesterday May 24,2023 in Bakhmut as the Boxing Federation of Ukraine reported.

The Carpathian Cup”, “Kuzhelny Cup”, “Arsyonov Cup”, boxing champion who voluntarily enlisted ed to join the Ukrainian army  in warding off Russia was killed yesterday. His death has also added to the misery of Ukraine as they lost fellow boxer Maksym Galinichev, a 22-year-old boxer who also joined Ukraine’s 25th Sycheslav Airborne Brigade, and was killed fighting in the Frontline in the Luhansk region.

The Boxing Federation of Ukraine broke the news yesterday afternoon in a Facebook post stating
“It became known about the death of another Ukrainian boxer

Oleksandr Onyshchenko – master of sports of Ukraine in boxing, champion of Ukraine among young men and juniors, winner of the “Carpathian Cup”, “Kuzhelny Cup”, “Arsyonov Cup”, member of the national boxing team of Ukraine.

He represented the boxing federation of the Sumy region and trained under the leadership of Dmytro Dubrov.

Alexander died near Bakhmut, defending the Motherland from the Russian enemy. Today, the hero will be escorted to his last journey.

His Coach, has gave a tribute of the boxer ” He was one of the best boxers. He was one of my best students.He was like a son to me. I  coached him since he was nine years old. We went through a very difficult boxing path, he achieved a lot.” He remarked

According to reports from the Ukrainian Ministry of Sports, more than 260 athletes have died in Ukraine following Russia’s invasion.

The city of Bakhmut has been left in ruins by constant shelling. A city which housed over 73,000 Ukrainians.

Oleksandr Onyshchenko was a Master of Sports of Ukraine in boxing, champion of Ukraine among young men and juniors, winner of the Carpathian Cup, Kuzhelnyi Cup and Arsionov Cup, as well as a member of the national boxing team of Ukraine.
