Third Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Massawudu Osman, has issued a strong warning to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), stating that the NPP will retaliate in response to the recent “Rambo-style” arrests of key members of their party.
He firmly vowed that the party would reciprocate if it regains power, adopting a tit-for-tat approach against the NDC.
His comments come after the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) held NPP’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, in custody over allegations of causing financial loss to the state.
“They say tit-for-tat is never a sin. We want to inform Ghanaians, the NDC, and John Dramani Mahama that this time around, the New Patriotic Party will not bury the hatchet. Anywhere, anytime the government acts against us, we are going to pay back the NDC. Whatever they are doing now, we will respond in equal measure,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chairman Wontumi has been granted bail to the tune of GH₵50 million, with two sureties, both to be justified.
He was picked up by EOCO on Tuesday after turning himself in to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for interrogation over his alleged involvement in illegal mining.
