New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has cautioned the party against taking the 2028 general election for granted, stressing that victory will require hard work, unity and stronger organisation.

Speaking to party members and aspirants after the NPP’s national executive elections, Dr Bawumia said the party must immediately begin preparations for the 2028 election.

“Winning the 2028 election won’t be easy; we must work harder,” he said.

Dr Bawumia described the national executive elections as the beginning of another phase of the party’s mobilisation and urged members to put the internal competition behind them and work together.

He also assured unsuccessful aspirants that they would remain part of the party’s campaign ahead of the 2028 election.

“You’ll be part of the 2028 campaign. There’s enough work for all of us,” he told the contestants.

According to Dr Bawumia, the NPP would need to draw on the experience and contributions of all members as it works to strengthen its structures and prepare for the next national contest.

His call for unity comes after the election of new national executives, led by newly elected National Chairman John Boadu, who has also urged members to put aside divisions and work together.

Dr Bawumia stressed that the party must now move beyond the competition that characterised the internal elections and focus on strengthening its organisation and reconnecting with its wider membership.

With a new national executive team in place, the NPP is expected to begin its next phase of internal organisation and preparations for the 2028 general election.
