The University of Ghana has initiated internal disciplinary processes against two of its senior academics, Professor Ransford Gyampo and Dr. George Domfeh, following a heated on-air confrontation that went viral on social media.
A statement signed by Management and dated Friday, November 21, 2025, confirmed that the University Council has taken note of a widely circulated video from the Saturday, November 15, 2025, edition of TV3’s current affairs programme, The Key Points.
The footage showed the two senior lecturers engaged in a fierce verbal exchange that escalated into personal attacks, causing the panel discussion to degenerate into chaos.
“Management of the University of Ghana has noted a widely circulated video which captured Professor Ransford Gyampo and Dr. George Domfeh, both Senior Members of the University, in a confrontation during a media engagement… The video shows a panel discussion that degenerated into a personal and heated exchange between the two,” the statement read.
Invoking the University of Ghana Statutes (2024) and the Code of Conduct for Academic Senior Members (2011), Management has formally triggered internal processes to review the conduct of both lecturers and determine appropriate disciplinary measures.
“The University demands high standards of professionalism, integrity and decorum from all faculty and staff, and expects all members of the University community to uphold these values in both public and private engagements,” the statement emphasised.
“Management remains committed to safeguarding the dignity of the University and preserving public confidence in the institution,” it added.
The University of Ghana assured the public that due process will be followed and any sanctions, if deemed necessary, will be applied in accordance with its established regulations.
