The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has forecasted localised thunderstorms and moderate to heavy rainfall across parts of Greater Accra, Central, Western, Ashanti and surrounding areas later today, Thursday.

In its 24-hour weather forecast issued Thursday morning, GMet indicated that the stormy conditions are expected to develop in the afternoon and continue into the evening, particularly affecting Accra, Kasoa, Kumasi, Obuasi, Tarkwa, Cape Coast, Takoradi, Axim, Sefwi Bekwai and adjoining communities.

Early Thursday morning saw mist and fog patches over coastal, forest and mountainous areas, leading to reduced visibility for commuters. However, sunny intervals took over by mid-morning across most parts of the country.

According to the agency, cloudiness will increase from the afternoon, triggering thunderstorms and rain of varying intensities over portions of the coastal, middle and transition zones. Northern Ghana is expected to remain fairly dry with slight haze throughout the day.

GMet further noted that nighttime and early morning temperatures will remain relatively cool over the upper regions, while sea conditions along the coast are likely to be rough.

Motorists and the general public in the affected areas are advised to exercise caution, especially during the peak of the rains.
