NIB launches Mobile App, Ubuntu Initiative to elevate customer experience

The National Investment Bank (NIB) PLC has unveiled its new Mobile App alongside the official launch of the “Ubuntu Initiative” as part of a major digital and cultural transformation drive.

Speaking at the launch event on Monday, Deecy1, 2025, Managing Director of NIB PLC, Chief Zakaria Doliwura, described the twin initiatives as a decisive step into the future of banking in Ghana.

He disclosed that the Bank, with the support of President John Dramani Mahama, the Ministry of Finance, the Bank of Ghana, the Board, key stakeholders and dedicated staff, has successfully strengthened its capital position, restored market confidence and repositioned itself as a credible national development institution.

“The NIB Mobile App represents a significant leap forward in our digitalisation agenda,” Chief Doliwura stated.

The app, he explained, allows customers to open accounts, transfer funds, pay bills, purchase airtime and access full banking services 24/7 with just a few taps on their phones, eliminating queues, distance barriers and traditional banking hours.

“This is banking redesigned for Ghana’s 24-hour economy,” he emphasised.

Beyond technology, the Managing Director introduced the Ubuntu Initiative as the philosophical foundation of NIB’s renewed organisational culture.

Quoting the famous African proverb, “I am because we are,” he stressed that Ubuntu is far more than a slogan.

“It reminds us that behind every transaction is a human story, behind every account is a dream, and behind every customer interaction is an opportunity to demonstrate care, integrity and respect,” Chief Doliwura told the gathering.

He said the Ubuntu philosophy will guide staff in placing people at the centre of the Bank’s operations while leveraging cutting-edge technology to deliver superior customer experience.

Also speaking at the launch, the Deputy Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, Mohammed Adams Sukparu, a proud customer of NIB, expressed delight about the Mobile Application and congratulated the Managiny Director, Board Members and staff of the bank.

He urged the management to leverage on technology and implement more innovative ideas to further transform NIB.

The Omanhene of Suma Traditional Area and Council of State Member, Odeneho Dr Afram Brempong the III who was chairman of the occasion, congratulated the management and staff of NIB for transforming the bank into a profit making institution in a space of months.
