The1957News has learnt that private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has been detained by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
According to a source, Mr Kpebu was detained following his appearance at the OSP on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.
Earlier on Wednesday, Mr Kpebu, who had already had two previous meetings with OSP officials over his allegations of corruption and conflict of interest against the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, insisted on having an independent body or committee probe his claims.
He vowed never to honour another invitation by the OSP if the engagement turned out to be yet another meeting with officials of the office seeking to investigate his claims.
“What in very serious institutions they do is that, one, either you give it to a board—thus, if the board appears truly independent—or, two, you set up a special committee outside the organisation, a committee that has no relations to the institution. So that they will be independent,” he said.
He emphasised that the optics of the OSP investigating claims made against Mr Kissi Agyebeng are not good.
“This simple thing, if they cannot get it, I am not coming back the next time. As I indicated, if I go in there and they still give me a committee that is not independent,” he added.
