The Western North Regional Police Command has arrested five young men suspected to be part of an armed robbery gang terrorising Sefwi Bekwai and its surrounding communities.

The suspects, identified as Iddrisu Abdalla (20), Abdul Rahaman Abubakar (21), Okasha Mohammed (19), Toffic Bawa (24), and Richard Gyapong (35), were rounded up during an intelligence-led operation.

According to a police statement on Sunday, December 7, 2025, three of the suspects were initially intercepted while riding an unregistered motorbike within Sefwi Bekwai. When they refused to stop at the Mpesiem Police snap checkpoint, a hot chase ensued, leading to their arrest.

The remaining two were picked up later.

A subsequent search conducted at the homes of the suspects led to the recovery of a backpack containing several talismans, a face mask, and finger rings believed to be used in the commission of their crimes.

Preliminary investigations have linked the five to a string of robbery attacks in the Sefwi Bekwai area in recent weeks.

All five suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations. They are expected to be arraigned before court soon, pending the outcome of further probes.
