127 Ningo-Prampram constituents benefit from GH¢1.3 million MP’s Livelihood Support Programme

Some 127 constituents in Ningo-Prampram have benefited from the 2025 edition of a livelihood support programme under the auspices of the Member of Parliament, Samuel Nartey George.

At a ceremony on Monday, December 8, 2025, the MP described the event as part of the corporate social responsibility of his office, aimed at providing economic empowerment to his constituents.

“Since 2018, I’ve been doing this every year; we support people to start their own businesses. Because, as the saying goes, ‘it’s better to teach people how to fish than to always give them fish.’ So, as we set them up in business or provide them with the items they need to establish their own businesses, it allows them to become self-sustaining,” he said.

According to the MP who doubles as the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, the initiative, since its inception in 2018, has already supported 250 beneficiaries over the years.

During the presentation on Monday, the beneficiaries received various forms of support, including equipment such as fridges, industrial sewing machines, motorbikes, fufu-pounding machines, block moulders, and others, as well as cash sums — all at an estimated total cost of GH¢1.3 million.

As part of activities to round off the year, the MP outlined some upcoming events, including an end-of-year party for the elderly in the constituency, the maiden edition of an awards scheme for teachers, and a meeting with the more than two thousand branch executives of the National Democratic Congress in Ningo-Prampram.
