The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), together with sister security agencies, will on Thursday, December 11, 2025, stage a joint Show of Force Exercise in parts of Accra as part of measures to heighten security ahead of the Christmas festivities.
The exercise will involve personnel and assets from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, and the Ghana Immigration Service.
According to a statement signed by the Director of Public Relations of the Ghana Armed Forces, Naval Captain Michael Addo Larbi, the activity will commence at 9:00 a.m. from the Black Star Square, move through principal streets of the capital, and return to the starting point.
The statement said the exercise is designed to boost operational readiness, deter potential criminal acts, reassure the public of the security services’ preparedness, and further strengthen inter-agency collaboration in maintaining law and order.
It described the show of force as a routine training activity and warned that residents may notice a heavy security presence and temporary traffic delays in parts of Greater Accra during the period.
The public has been urged to remain calm and continue with their normal activities, as there is no cause for alarm.
Similar joint exercises have been held in previous years ahead of major national events and the yuletide season to demonstrate the readiness of Ghana’s security apparatus.
