The Tema Regional Police Command has foiled an attempted armed robbery at Community 24 in the Adjei-Kojo District of Ashaiman, resulting in the deaths of three suspects during a shootout.

According to a press release issued by the Ghana Police Service on Monday, December 22, 2025, the incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, December 21, 2025, at approximately 1:30 a.m.

The Ashaiman Divisional Police Intelligence Team received information about an ongoing robbery at a private residence in Community 24. A police team was promptly dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers encountered six young men wearing face masks and hoodies, armed with machetes, guns, and other offensive weapons. The suspects opened fire on the police, who returned fire in self-defence.

In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, three suspects were fatally wounded and later pronounced dead. The remaining three suspects, believed to have sustained gunshot wounds, fled the scene.

Police recovered three face masks, three machetes, and one unregistered Royal 125 motorbike from the scene. The bodies of the deceased suspects have been deposited at the Police Hospital for preservation, identification, and autopsy.

Hospitals and health facilities in the area have been alerted to report any male individuals seeking treatment for gunshot wounds to the police via emergency lines.

The Command commended the operational team for their swift response and encouraged the public to continue providing timely information to aid in maintaining peace and security.

The press release was signed by ASP Dede Dzakpasu, Head of Public Affairs, Tema Regional Police Headquarters.
