The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into a violent incident that disrupted the District Schools Athletics Games in Agona Swedru, Central Region.

The event, held on Tuesday, February 19, to promote sporting excellence among students, reportedly descended into chaos following a confrontation between participants from two schools.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident escalated into a fight between students of Obrachire Senior High Technical School and Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS).

During the altercation, a student from Obrachire was allegedly attacked by a group believed to be from SWESBUS. The victim was reportedly assaulted with sticks and stones before spectators intervened.

Videos circulating on social media show scenes of confusion, with the injured student surrounded by a crowd as the incident unfolded. He was later admitted to hospital and is currently receiving treatment.

The Police have assured the public that the perpetrators will be identified and dealt with in accordance with the law.
