President John Dramani Mahama is today, Friday, February 27, 2026, delivering the 2026 State of the Nation Address (SONA) to a joint session of Parliament.
The address, is to provide an overview of the nation’s progress, highlights key achievements of the government since President Mahama’s inauguration in January 2025, and outlines policy priorities and directions for the year ahead.
Under Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, the President is required to deliver the State of the Nation Address at the beginning of each session of Parliament, offering insights into governance, economic performance, security, infrastructure, and other critical sectors.
This marks President Mahama’s second SONA since returning to office following his victory in the 2024 general elections. Expectations are high amid ongoing discussions on job creation, the 24-hour economy policy, cocoa sector challenges, inflation management, and broader economic recovery efforts.
Dignitaries, Members of Parliament, government officials, traditional leaders, and other stakeholders have gathered at in the Chamber of Parliament House in Accra for the event.
