Two Ghanaian nationals sustained injuries on Wednesday following a drone incident near Dubai International Airport in the United Arab Emirates, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed.

The incident occurred earlier today, Wednesday, March 11, 2026, in the vicinity of the busy airport, where two drones fell, injuring four people in total. According to reports from UAE authorities and international media, the two Ghanaians and one Bangladeshi national suffered minor injuries, while an Indian national sustained moderate injuries. Airport operations have continued normally with no major disruptions reported.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it received the information from relevant UAE authorities. The Ghanaian government strongly condemned the attack, describing it as an act that endangers civilian lives and critical infrastructure.

“Such incidents pose serious risks to public safety and underscore the importance of ensuring the protection of civilians and vital international transport hubs,” the statement read.

Ghana’s Ambassador to the UAE led a delegation from the Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate in Dubai to visit the injured Ghanaians at the hospital. The Ministry noted that their injuries are not critical, and full recovery is expected soon.

The government has urged the public to remain calm as it continues to provide consular assistance and works closely with UAE authorities. It is closely monitoring the situation and engaging with relevant parties as needed.

“The Government of Ghana expresses its concern over the incident and conveys its thoughts to the injured individuals and their families,” the Ministry added.

The statement reiterated the government’s commitment to the safety and welfare of Ghanaians abroad. It also mentioned active support for ongoing United Nations consultations aimed at passing a resolution for a cessation of hostilities in the region.

The Ministry called on all Ghanaians in the Gulf region to exercise heightened vigilance, follow directives from Ghanaian embassies, and comply with local authorities’ instructions.
