The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has issued a stern warning to criminals across Ghana, assuring citizens that the Ghana Police Service will relentlessly pursue and arrest all lawbreakers as it intensifies its fight against crime.
The IGP made the remarks on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, when the Mobile Money Advocacy Group Ghana presented him with a plaque and citation in recognition of his leadership and the Service’s efforts in combating crime, particularly attacks on mobile money agents and operators.
“We want to sound a strong warning to the criminals wherever they are, that we will not give up in our endeavor to make sure that we protect Ghanaians in general,” Mr Yohuno stated.
He urged criminals to lay down their arms and desist from criminal activities, stressing that modern policing techniques have made it extremely difficult for offenders to evade justice.
“You can run, but you cannot hide,” the IGP declared, adding that the Police Service remains fully committed to maintaining law and order and safeguarding the public.
President of the Mobile Money Advocacy Group Ghana, Edward Ofori-Agyemang, commended the IGP for his proactive leadership in tackling crime within the mobile money ecosystem. He called on the Police Service to sustain its operations to bring greater security to mobile money vendors and agents across the country.
The Ghana Police Service has in recent times stepped up operations against various forms of crime, including armed robbery, cyber fraud, and mobile money-related offences.
