New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary aspirant Eugene Yaw Boakye Antwi has pledged to give each constituency GH¢25,000 by the end of November 2026 if elected to the position.
He said the funds would be used to resource constituency executives as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures and prepare the NPP for the 2028 general elections.
Boakye Antwi made the pledge on Onua TV’s morning show, Maakye, on Monday, August 31, 2026, while outlining his plans for the party’s grassroots should he win the October 3 national executive elections.
“I Yaw Boakye, promise every NPP executive that, if they vote for me in Kumasi, end of November, every constituency will get GHC25,000.00. It could even be more. I am Yaw Boakye and if I’m not able to do it, call me Yaa Boakyewaa,” he said.
He explained that he had calculated the total cost of the pledge and estimated it at about GH¢1.4 million.
“This is where you separate the men from the boys. The money will be found, we are going to resource the executives to work,” he added.
Boakye Antwi said his eight years as a Member of Parliament and four years as a Deputy Minister gave him an advantage over his contenders, particularly in understanding how government operates and mobilising resources.
“I’ve been MP for 8 years and none of my contenders has been MP for 8 years. I’ve been Deputy Minister for 4 years and none of them have been Deputy Minister for 4 years. There’s nothing you’ll do in government that wouldn’t go through Parliament. Secondly, I’ve been in government and I know how to raise funds, something I knew even before becoming an MP,” he said.
He initially told the programme that every constituency would receive GH¢5,000 before clarifying the figure after the host asked him to repeat his pledge.
“I’m using this Onua TV platform to inform all constituency chairmen and all their executives that, me, if I’m voted for on 3rd October, by the end of November, everybody will get their 5,000,” he initially stated.
He subsequently clarified that the amount would be GH¢25,000 per constituency, stressing that the figure could be increased.
Boakye Antwi is seeking to become the next General Secretary of the NPP as the party prepares for its national executive elections scheduled for Saturday, October 3, 2026.
