Ablekuma North MP supports hundreds of food vendors with staples to cushion businesses

Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North, Ewurabena Aubynn, has extended direct support to hundreds of food vendors in the constituency by distributing bags of maize to help cushion them against the rising cost of operating their businesses.

The beneficiaries, predominantly women alongside some men engaged in food vending, included operators of kenkey businesses, chop bars and other small-scale food enterprises.

The intervention, through the Awula Foundation, forms part of efforts to provide practical support to people whose livelihoods depend on small businesses and help ease some of the pressures confronting them.

At a distribution exercise held at the Official Town Market Park, beneficiaries received bags of maize intended to reduce the cost burden of procuring a key staple used extensively in their businesses.

Speaking during the exercise, Ms Aubynn reaffirmed her commitment to supporting constituents, particularly women and small-scale entrepreneurs, whose daily activities contribute significantly to household incomes and the local economy.

She assured the beneficiaries that the support would not be a one-off intervention, emphasising her determination to continue working with them and supporting their aspirations.

She said her objective was to help create conditions that would enable beneficiaries to sustain their businesses, improve their livelihoods and provide better living conditions for themselves and their families.

The MP also encouraged the beneficiaries to make good use of the support as they continue to build their businesses and provide for their families.

The initiative was powered by the Awula Foundation, an Ewurabena Aubynn project, with support from the Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly, bringing together community-level leadership and local institutional support to respond to the immediate needs of residents.

For many of the beneficiaries, the provision of maize represents a direct reduction in the cost of inputs for their food businesses, providing some relief as they work to sustain their livelihoods.
