Bekwai MP commissions new mechanised borehole for Zongo community
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bekwai, Ralph Poku-Adusei, has commissioned and handed over a newly constructed mechanised borehole to the Bekwai Zongo community as part of efforts to improve access to clean and reliable drinking water in the constituency.
The project forms part of his Water for Life Initiative, which seeks to address water supply challenges in underserved communities across Bekwai.
Poku-Adusei said his commitment to providing water infrastructure in the constituency predates his election to Parliament, noting that he supported borehole projects in Asokore, Edwenase and Huntado in 2024 while serving as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate. He also helped repair several broken-down boreholes in other communities.
In a statement following the commissioning and handover, the MP reaffirmed his commitment to improving the welfare of his constituents, describing access to safe water as essential to public health and wellbeing.
He thanked the chiefs, elders and residents of Bekwai Zongo for their warm reception and commitment to maintaining the facility, expressing hope that the borehole would ease water supply challenges and improve living conditions in the community.
The newly constructed facility is expected to provide residents with a more reliable source of drinking water and contribute to improved public health.
