The 14th-time European champions, Real Madrid won the Copa Del Rey trophy for the 20th time after their victory over Osasuna yesterday.
In the final clash for the coveted Copa Del Rey 2023 trophy, Real Madrid beat Osasuna in a 2-1 victory with Rodrygo scoring a brace at the Estadio La Cartuja.
The 22-year-old forward slashed the ball into the net after a superb dribble from Vinicius Jr. early in the 2nd minute. Lucas Torro of Osasuna equalized in the 58th minute to make it a tie. Rodrygo put the White Angels ahead of Osasuna in the 70th minute to secure a win for Real Madrid.
The victory ended Real Madrid’s Copa Del Rey drought since 2014 whereas Osasuna failed to win the trophy as their first Copa Del Rey final appearance.
Carlo Ancelloti, Manager of the winning team has won the trophy for the second time since 2014 which was his first major trophy at the club.
Real Madrid looks forward to replicating the miracle they performed against Manchester City in the European Champions League 2022 this Tuesday to add up to the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup they won earlier season.
“At the age of 22, I have won everything. But it is not enough, I still want to win many more” Rodrygo stated in an interview.
