American R&B singer Christopher Maurice Brown, popularly known as Chris Brown, has been remanded into custody after appearing before a UK court over an alleged bottle attack at a London nightclub.Chris Brown was arrested on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester.

The charge concerns an alleged assault that reportedly took place at Tape nightclub in London’s Mayfair district in 2023. The victim of the assault, music producer Abe Diaw, is said to have suffered grievous bodily harm.

Judge Joanne Hirst indicated that the offence was too serious to be heard by a magistrates’ court and will therefore be transferred to Southwark Crown Court in London. The next hearing is expected to take place on June 13.

Fans of the American star gathered outside the Manchester Magistrates’ Court as the singer was in the city ahead of his UK tour in June and July, with performances scheduled at Co-Op Live Arena in Manchester and the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
